What to Bet on an NBA Game?
In an NBA game you can bet on many things besides the team that will win, who will be the top scorer, which player will become the top three-point scorer, who will finish the game as the best shot blocker or how many points a superstar will score…
Types of NBA Betting
Betting on basketball is much more than just thinking about who is going to win a game. Enjoying one of the greatest sporting events in the world is exciting, even more so if we combine it with a bet on our favorite team, on the player we like to watch the most or on the many stars of the best basketball league in the world.
Most bookmakers offer two possibilities for the most classic basketball market: team 1 wins or team 2 wins, including what happens in a possible overtime. However, there are bookies that also introduce the possibility of a draw: in this case, they increase the odds on both teams winning, but in return, if there is a draw at the end of the last quarter, the bets on team 1 or team 2 will be losers.
Each match offers several handicaps: the classic one is on the difference in points between the two teams at the end of the match, but there are also handicaps on each half or on each of the quarters. These are very interesting bets, especially in the live markets, where we can keep an eye on the players who are on the court at that moment for each team and bet accordingly.
This is a type of bet in which we can find very high odds, but the possibility of winning is much lower and enters the dangerous realm of chance. They can be used in cases where we think that one team is going to be far superior to another, either because one of them has several losses, or because one of them is particularly bad at an opponent, etc. Very interesting market but difficult to guess.
Total points is another of the markets most used by NBA bettors. You can choose the over/under between the line set by the bookies for each game, but also the total points of each team, the total points in each quarter or in each half of the game and even which team will be the first to score a certain number of points: 12, 25, 45, etc.
The vast majority of bookmakers offer different markets for each game and there you can find very interesting bets. There are lines on points, assists, rebounds, blocks, or three-pointers: for example if Lebron James will score more or less than 29.5 points in a game; if Giannis Antetokounmpo will grab more or less than 5.5 rebounds; or if, among many other possibilities, Kyle Kuzma will dish out more than 2.5 assists or less.
