Evolution’s Monopoly Live: Game of the Year
Recently, the online casino developer, Evolution Gaming, had their game, Monopoly Live, chosen as Game of the Year at the EGR Operator Awards. It's a prestigious award, so it's good news for Evolution. Here's some information about it all.
Monopoly Live's Victory
The casino game is a special edition of the Dream Catcher game, which was quite popular with audiences this year. It beat out thirteen other games that were on the shortlist to win. The award is focused on giving recognition to a company that made a stand-alone game with the largest impact on the industry over the last year. The award ceremony occurred in London at the Grosvenor House Hotel. The Monopoly Live game was created in partnership with Evolution and Scientific Games.
The game is unique because it uses things like augmented reality. For example, they have a 3D bonus game that shows Mr. Monopoly having adventures. Hasbro is also a partner in this through the Scientific Games license agreement.
You start with monopoly Live, looking at a live studio that has a huge wheel with the Monopoly symbol on it. Each wheel slice has a number, indicating the chances of getting that number. For example, the number “1” appears the most and has an equal payout. There are also 2, 5, and 10. Other possibilities of what you can land on are the “chance” selection which has a question mark on it, and sections that give you more rolls. The backdrop to the wheel is pretty impressive, with a shiny studio that can have a lot of things projected over it with the AR effects.
The game starts when a host spins the vertical wheel. The players then predict where the wheel is going to land. The virtual “Mr. Monopoly” character, who looks much like the Moneybags' character from Monopoly, the board game, is in the studio for players, often sitting in chairs or doing other things.
If the wheel lands on a number, they win that number in odds, like 2 to 1 or 5 to 1, for example. The Chance cards will give you a cash price, or they might give you a multiplier bonus at random. In the case where the card is showing a multiplier, the wheel is spun again, and those who chose the right multiplier that it lands on will just get this added on.
Chief Product Officer Todd Haushalter said Evolution is thrilled to win and produce games customers love. Evolution won last year as well, and Todd also spoke about that.
Overall, there are certainly plenty of reasons to see why the game was so popular and won so many awards. It's a unique experience in the space it's occupying, and not a log of other spin games have anything quite like the Monopoly Live game. It's a spectacular, one-of-a-kind experience that is well-deserved of the award it received at the event.
